Man United have held positive conversations over the signing of Axel Disasi.
Erik ten Hag is still on the hunt for new signings this summer, with the squad still needing some major overhauling in order for the club to compete at the highest level.
Several players, covering several positions, have already been linked with a Red Devils switch this term. No doubt many more rumours will follow before we get to the summer.
The latest rumour comes from Give Me Sport’s Dean Jones. He weighs in on apparent United interest in AS Monaco’s Axel Disasi.
According to Jones, United have held ‘pretty positive’ initial conversations over the potential signing of the 25-year-old, who he views as a ‘Patrice Evra mark two’ due to the AS Monaco links.
Check out what Dean Jones had to say in full on Man United’s interest in Axel Disasi:
“He’s a different sort of player, but Axel Disasi could be viewed as Patrice Evra mark two if he was to come from the same Monaco pathway.” Jones told Give Me Sport.
“His ceiling is high, he has as a similar age to Evra when he first arrived at the club and I’m told the initial conversations over the past couple of months have been pretty positive around this one.”
The article claims that Disasi could be available for around £44m due to the player having two years left on his contract.
The man from France largely operates as a central defender – an area in which United could look to invest in this summer, particularly if either (or both) Harry Maguire or Victor Lindelof depart from the club.
If United are holding talks with either AS Monaco or the player’s reps, it lets us all know that they’re at least semi-interested in signing Disasi. The player, who is attracting interest from Europe’s top clubs, is known for his passing ability – namely through progressive passes through the lines.
I wouldn’t be against bringing in some defenders who fit in line more with the way Ten Hag likes to play. Disasi certainly fits that bill.
