Man United links to Youri Tielemans are now picking up the pace…

It goes without saying, this is Manchester United’s biggest summer transfer window in years. Not only do the Red Devils need a new manager, they’re also on the hunt to improve the playing squad – pretty drastically, too…

The United midfield has been neglected recently, with those problems set to get worse when Paul Pogba leaves on a free transfer.

At least one, maybe even two players will need to be signed in that area of the field. Enter, Youri Tielemans.

The Leicester City star has been linked with United twice over the last week, with the Reds possibly able to land the midfielder in a cut-price deal.

Today, we’ve been given another update in the brewing saga. The report comes from Het Laatste Nieuws, who report on the story in their Friday print edition. We also owe Sport Witness some thanks, for finding the information and translating it to English.

According to their report, the Reds transfer target ‘does not want to sign’ a new deal at Leicester City and he wants to move elsewhere after this campaign. The Foxes are after €50m (£42m) to let Tielemans leave in a few months’ time.

Due to the price-tag, HLN claim that Tielemans’ options are pretty limited, though United are one of the sides who are keen. It’s also stated that United have been ‘following him for years’.

HLN stress that any potential United move for Tielemans will be directly impacted by whoever the Old Trafford club hire as a new manager. Obviously, there’s no point spending big on a player now, particularly if the new boss doesn’t want to work with Tielemans.

Personally, I’m a huge fan of this move. Tielemans feels like someone who could slot straight into our starting line-up and make us better from the get-go. However, I’d imagine they’ll be plenty more sides trying to make a move for the Belgium international this summer, so United won’t have it all their own way.

Would a Man United move for Youri Tielemans make sense? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
