Man United fans delighted with Anthony Martial display for Sevilla – Old Trafford Faithful

Man United fans were buzzing with what they saw from Anthony Martial while playing on loan for Sevilla last night.

When Manchester United signed Anthony Martial from AS Monaco in a big-money deal, the media raised their eyebrows. A goal on debut against Liverpool certainly silenced the haters.

From then on, Martial has often blown hot and cold. Several changes in manager hasn’t helped his situation. Over the last year or so, the Frenchman has played his worst football. At times, I don’t think it’s fair to say he looked uninterested. One pundit in particular, was left disappointed with the output from the man with a Ballon D’Or clause in his contract…

It seemed pretty clear that Martial would have to leave in some capacity in order to play games. Sevilla would come calling in January, presenting the attacker with the perfect opportunity to prove his worth.

An assist on his first start would be backed up by his first goal last night. Sevilla would take on Dinamo Zagreb in the Europa League. They’d win 3-1 with the third goal coming courtesy of Martial.

It was a typically-cool finish from the 26-year-old, whose overall performance was an excellent one. Martial was playing with confidence, freedom and hunger.

Obviously, this is just the start of his spell in Seville. But the early signs are positive and those fans over there absolutely idolise him. I do wonder if he’s now considering his long-term future at Old Trafford.

United themselves have a big decision to make. They could potentially cash in now while his value is high – or give him another shot in the United first-team in 2022/23. It’s a tricky situation, that’s for sure.

As you’d imagine, United fans were delighted with the loanee, who put in a top performance for his new club, capped off with his first goal for Sevilla. Nicely done, Tony!
