Man United interest in Benjamin Sesko seems genuine.
The proposed transfer of Benjamin Sesko to Manchester United is moving pretty quickly. Earlier today, we covered the latest from Fabrizio Romano, who stated that direct contact with the player’s agent had already taken place.
Well, Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News has further added to that claim.
The journalist has claimed that United football director, John Murtough, ‘met’ with Sesko’s agent last week.
Murtough ‘rendezvoused’ with Elvis Basanovic, Sesko’s representative, last Wednesday to ‘gauge the possibility’ of a potential transfer to the Old Trafford club.
Luckhurst adds that United are in the market for at least one attacker this summer, but preferably two. With Cristiano Ronaldo’s future up in the air, a central striker and another wide player wouldn’t go amiss.
Sesko is a relatively new name, with the young Slovenian rising to prominence over the last few months. He scored the winner against Liverpool earlier this week, while his all-round game looked super impressive.
With Ajax continuing to play hardball over Antony and no other concrete links mentioned in regards to United signing an attacker, it suddenly feels like Sesko has emerged as one of the Reds’ top targets.
Whether or not the young man, who currently plays his football for RB Salzburg, is ready for the step up in class remains to be seen.
Obviously, if Sesko is seen as the replacement for Ronaldo, those are some pretty huge shoes to fill. However, the potential that the 19-year-old possesses may make this transfer too hard to move away from.
With time running out before the start of the season, United will have to act pretty quickly to get this deal over the line in time – assuming they’re ready to pay the money to sign Sesko.
