Man United could make January move for Youri Tielemans

Man United could look to sign Youri Tielemans during the January transfer window.

Over the summer, it was pretty clear that amongst Manchester United’s top priorities was a move to acquire at least one central midfielder.

The Old Trafford club let Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic leave. Those minutes absolutely needed replacing. After chasing Frenkie de Jong for much of the summer, Erik ten Hag would eventually settle on Casemiro.

However, you get the feeling United are still a man light in that area of the pitch. Now, it has been made pretty clear that Ten Hag mirrors that view, with a winter move for Youri Tielemans being talked up.

It was the Leicester Mercury who discovered the information, with Fichajes the original source. They state that United are eyeing a January move to sign the 25-year-old Leicester City man.

Tielemans is described as the ‘chosen one’ to fill the midfield void that currently exists within United’s squad.

The Belgian, who is out of contract next summer, could arrive at Old Trafford for a much lower price than his typical market value – meaning I’d be surprised if the Red Devils are the only interested party.

Tielemans is a player who has been linked with a United move before. The Belgian is highly thought of amongst Reds supporters, too, so I would imagine this is a move that the Old Trafford faithful would fully get behind.

This is a player who is also approaching his prime years. Tielemans would probably command high wages due to the lack of transfer fee, but he could come into United as an exceptional rotational option who can really offer some genuine squad depth in a key area of the pitch.
