Manchester United are reportedly lining up a January transfer window bid for West Ham United target Moussa Diaby.

That according to Spanish publication Fichajes who claim that Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is considering a move to bring the 23-year-old forward to Old Trafford as a potential replacement for Anthony Martial.

Now, West Ham manager David Moyes is allegedly keen to sign Diaby from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen as well.

It seems as though the Hammers may find it hard to bring the eight-capped France international to the London Stadium though, with Ten Hag apparently keen to replace Martial with the Leverkusen star.

Manchester United signed Martial from Monaco back in 2015 in a deal that could eventually cost them £57 million (Evening Standard).

It seems as though he could be on his way out of Old Trafford though, and that would be terrible news for West Ham…

Manchester United January bid for Diaby would be a big blow for West Ham

Fichajes reckon that Man United could try to sign the Bayer Leverkusen ace this winter.

And if they do go in for him, it may well be mission impossible for the Hammers. What a huge shame that would be.

Diaby joined Bayer Leverkusen from Paris Saint-Germian in the summer of 2019.

He has been a huge hit with the Bundesliga side, bagging 43 goals and 41 assists in 146 games so far (Transfermarkt).

Last season, the Frenchman chalked up 17 goals and 14 assists in 42 games. And this term, he has eight goals and four assists to his name in 22 outings (Transfermarkt).

The 23-year-old is absolutely rapid and plays with a certain kind of directness that would he see him slot perfectly into the Hammers’ setup.

He has been described as an ‘astonishing’ player by the Bundesliga’s official website.

The lively forward can play anywhere along the front-line and that will undoubtedly appeal to both Moyes and Ten Hag.

If Manchester United do make a January bid for Moussa Diaby though West Ham’s dream of signing the France international will be well and truly over in my opinion.
