Major David Raum West Ham update as new interest surely decides coveted left-back’s next move and it’s not good news for David Moyes.
One of the key priority positions for Moyes to strengthen this summer is left-back.
And West Ham fans have been seriously excited by strong links to swashbuckling German star Raum.
The likes of German publication Sport 1 recently claimed that the Hammers could sign the 24-year-old left-back for around £30 million from Hoffenheim this summer.
The nine-capped Germany international has everything West Ham are crying out for at left-back.
Raum is powerful, has bags of pace and is a tenacious competitor with a great engine. Football Talent Scout describe Raum as a ‘superb’ modern left-back.
Aaron Cresswell has been a great servant for West Ham but there is no denying Raum would be a massive upgrade – and eight years his junior.
Hopes have been high among West Ham supporters that Moyes could get a deal done for the full-back.
Now there has been a major Raum West Ham update as new interest surely decides the coveted left-back’s next move.
And it’s not looking good for Moyes.
Even if West Ham were willing to fork out £30m to sign a left-back – which history suggests is extremely unlikely – now German giants Bayern Munich have made a move for Raum.
Bayern are looking to sign a new left-back following Omar Richards’ departure to West Ham’s new Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest.
And according to the likes of Bild and Kicker yesterday, they are targeting the man Moyes allegedly wants at West Ham.
Get German Football News has also highlighted Kicker’s report claiming Bayern want to take advantage of Hoffenheim’s interest in Chris Richards by using the US international as a makeweight in a potential deal for Raum.
In the Bundesliga what Bayern want, Bayern tend to get – especially in the pursuit of German players. So their supposed interest in Raum is likely fatal for West Ham.
It seems it is on to the next for Moyes but interest in a player like Raum suggests West Ham are looking at the right kind of player to succeed Cresswell.
