Jesse Lingard wants to leave Man United, with the club yet to make a decision on his future.
Manchester United’s squad has certainly been one that’s overflowing in terms of sheer volume of players.
Hence why it wasn’t really surprising to see that squad trimmed down considerably this month. Both Donny van de Beek and Anthony Martial have moved away on loan, while Jesse Lingard is another whose future lies in the balance.
The Englishman has barely played this term, with rumours rife about his long-term future at the club. For someone who is out of contract this summer, it certainly looks like Lingard will be moving on permanently in a few months time.
In the meantime, though, the 29-year-old is still wanting to leave Man United. According to Fabrizio Romano, Lingard told Ralf Rangnick as much during a face-to-face meeting today, with West ham and Newcastle both keen on adding Lingard.
As things stand, it’s up to United to sanction a move and honestly, they should just let Lingard go be happy – wherever he ends up.
It’s borderline cruel at this point. Lingard is no spring chicken anymore and he deserves that chance to start week-in-week-out and prove his worth to a club that can give him that opportunity.
I totally get United wanting to protect their asset, but they have to understand Lingard has given his best for that badge on his chest for two decades. We have to respect everything he’s done for us and let him leave the club in a happy manner, rather than ruining everything that he’s built here over the sake of pocket-change to the Glazer family.
Be it Newcastle, West Ham or abroad, hopefully, a deal can be reached at some point today.
