Jadon Sancho has revealed he prefers playing in attack rather than midfield.
As the season wore on, we began to see massive improvements in Jadon Sancho’s overall game.
After a relatively sluggish start, most likely due to the EURO 2020 hangover, Sancho started to look like the individually brilliant player we all know he is.
Goals, assists, directness. The Englishman was carving out opportunities almost at will at times, often looking like United’s best attacker in games.
You’d expect that under Erik ten Hag, Sancho will take another leap forward. It’ll also be helpful for the Englishman to have a full pre-season under his belt.
Before then, Sancho has the summer off to relax, recharge the batteries and get ready for a huge year. Ahead of jetting off on his holidays, Sancho took part in a fan question and answer session via the club.
When asked by a fan during a Q&A if he prefers midfield or attack, Sancho responded:
“Attack. [On which side?] I don’t mind, as long as I’m playing.”
Personally, I feel like Sancho plays better from off the left, cutting in on his stronger right foot or getting to the byline and crossing the ball with his excellent left. To me, he just looks like he has more options when deployed on that side.
The problem is, we’re going to see an improved Marcus Rashford next season, while Anthony Martial may well return. Plus, there’s a good chance United sign another winger of some description.
It’s up to Sancho to force the manager’s hand and make himself undroppable. I genuinely believe he can do that over the course of next season because that’s just how talented the former Borussia Dortmund man is.
