One of those changes saw Vladimir Coufal come in for Ben Johnson.

The 22-year-old has been mightily impressive for West Ham recently. So it was somewhat of a surprise to see him omitted from the squad today.

Ben Johnson missed West Ham vs Arsenal game through injury

The 22-year-old has become a hugely influential figure for West Ham so far this season.

Having him available for the Europa League second-leg clash with Eintracht Frankfurt will be vitally important for David Moyes and his team.

It seems as though we might have to win in Germany without Ben Johnson though.

David Moyes shared that the right-back missed today’s defeat to Arsenal with a thigh strain, according to The Athletic’s Roshane Thomas:

If Johnson is unavailable for Thursday’s clash with Eintracht Frankfurt, it will be a very big blow for West Ham indeed.

Vladimir Coufal will be able to fill in but not having Johnson will still be a big loss.

Let’s hope that he makes a recovery over the next few days although a thigh strain usually suggests that a player will be out of action for a couple of weeks.

Johnson’s pace and defensive solidarity was really missed during the West Ham vs Arsenal game today and it highlighted just how important he has become to this Hammers team.
