Hannibal Mejbri was the only bright spark for Man United, as they were mauled by Liverpool last night…
Manchester United were like lambs to the slaughter against Liverpool last night. The Old Trafford club sank without trace.
To a man, the starting line-up lacked any fight, desire, intensity or genuine care. For a club with high ambitions, that’s simply unforgivable.
United just didn’t look like United. For me, that’s the most disappointing thing.
It’s somewhat crazy, then, that Hannibal Mejbri was the one who set the tone. He was given no more than ten minutes to prove his worth off the substitute’s bench.
From the moment he stepped onto the field, Hannibal looked like the shining light. First and foremost, he was actually working hard and trying to close down his opposite number. This is the bare minimum requirement and it shouldn’t be down to a mere kid to set that tone.
The tackles were flying in from Hannibal. Again, this shows a little fight. Sure, he could’ve been sent off on another day but at least he showed that he cared enough to get stuck in and do his bit.
I get it. Hannibal still has an awful long way to go in terms of overall development as a footballer. Though I know the fans will support him every single step of the way. I don’t know about you, but I really do believe we should see more of the Tunisia international between now until the end of the season.
As you’d imagine, the Man United fans were left impressed with the cameo from their starlet vs Liverpool. He genuinely did set the tone.
