  • Gabriel Jesus expressed disappointment after a 2-2 draw with West Ham, urging the team to “raise the level” for future matches.
  • Jesus emphasised the importance of maintaining their performance level and adhering to their principles throughout the full 90 minutes.
  • The forward called for a focus on teamwork and improvement rather than blame, as Arsenal aims to stay in the fight for the Premier League title.

In the aftermath of Sunday’s 2-2 draw against West Ham, Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has urged the team to “raise the level” to maintain their Premier League title ambitions. The Brazilian forward played a pivotal role in both of Arsenal’s goals but was left disappointed as they relinquished a two-goal lead during the game.

Arsenal’s No. 9, opened the scoring and was instrumental in the second goal as well. However, he was candid in his post-match interview, highlighting the need for the team to improve their performance and adhere to their principles in future matches.

The forward stated, “Once again, the three points were in our hands. Obviously the game is 90 minutes, it’s not 20, in this case, today, 30 minutes. As a team, we have to raise the level and come back to our principles.”

Jesus went on to discuss the team’s strengths and how they managed to attack West Ham effectively in the first 10 to 20 minutes of the game. However, he noted that the team’s performance level dropped after that, which ultimately led to the draw.

“We know our strength, we know what we can do. Where we want to attack the opponent, in the first 10 to 20 minutes we did so good, after that we dropped our level and that obviously cannot happen if you want to fight for the title,” he continued.

The Brazilian international emphasised the importance of learning from this match and avoiding playing a blame game. Instead, he believes the team should focus on improving their performance and adhering to their core principles.

“It started from like 5 or 10 minutes before the penalty, because exactly after we scored the second goal we stopped. As a team, it’s no time to blame, as a team we have to raise the level again and come back to our principles and like I said win the games, that’s the only way we can arrive next month and then fight for the title again,” Jesus concluded.

Arsenal will need to heed Jesus’ call to “raise the level” in their upcoming matches if they want to keep their title hopes alive.

With a talented squad and a clear understanding of their strengths, the Gunners have the potential to make a strong push for the Premier League title and it is still in their hands.

But, as Jesus pointed out, they must maintain their intensity and focus throughout the full 90 minutes in order to stand any chance at all.
