Gabriel Jesus played 236 times for Manchester City. Across the course of those matches, he was booked 22 times.

That averages out at one card every 10.7 matches.

On Sunday, against Brentford, Jesus was booked for the fourth time in an Arsenal shirt, despite having only pulled it on eight times.

You don’t need me to tell you that works out as a yellow every other game.

If you want to look at it using minutes played, Jesus was booked every 650 minutes at City.

With Arsenal, it’s every 157, which is slightly better than on game stats alone but, seriously, that’s still a massive discrepancy.

Has his game changed that much? Has he suddenly started kicking players more?

He made 145 fouls over the course of six years at City and has already been penalised 16 times with Arsenal. That’s a yellow every 6.6 fouls with City and every 4 fouls with the Gunners.

Last season, Jesus picked up just one yellow card in 28 games/1,878 minutes.

He has played just 626 minutes so far for Arsenal.

I wonder what could possibly account for the vast difference…

Should Jesus pick up a yellow in the next game against Tottenham Hotspur, he will be suspended for the following game against Liverpool.
