It seemed the next likely arrival might be that of exciting attacker Danjuma after the likes of The Guardian linked the Villarreal man with West Ham last week.
The reported move quickly became a saga of claim and counter claim – as so often seems to be the way with West Ham.
A host of reports claimed the deal was all but done before a West Ham insider told Claret and Hugh that was not the case because Moyes was ‘not convinced’ by the player.
“West Ham are not currently progressing in talks to sign Arnaut Danjuma, with boss David Moyes not convinced by the player,” an insider told Claret and Hugh last week.
And The Daily Mail also stated that Moyes pulled the plug on a move for Danjuma after deciding he isn’t the best fit for the Hammers.
The West Ham board have allegedly been pushing hard to convince Moyes to sign Danjuma (The Express).
Now there have been fresh twists in the West Ham move for Danjuma after another round of claim and counter claim over the deal.
The Daily Mirror and The Daily Star are today reporting that Danjuma has agreed West Ham terms and is ‘set to seal a transfer to the London Stadium next week’.
“Danjuma is expected to be in East London next week as a move nears completion, although a final transfer fee still needs to be agreed,” the reports claim.
“But it was personal terms that was originally the stumbling block, and that no longer appears to be the case.
“It is expected that Danjuma will cost around £38.5million, which will be a club record sale for the Spanish side.”
But it seems West Ham fans should not get too excited.
Fresh twists in West Ham move for Arnaut Danjuma after claim and counter claim over deal
Because the new Danjuma claims have been quickly denied by by ExWHUemployee who described it as a ‘false report’.
“The Daily Mirror have said that personal terms have been agreed and he is expected to complete his move to the club,” ExWHUemployee said on The West Ham Way patreon.
“We have been in touch with people close to the player and the club to verify this information and we have been told that it is not true. The deal as it stands is currently off and this is a false report.”
Things are never straightforward when it comes to West Ham and transfers.
