Back in January, Arsenal cancelled Sead Kolasinac’s contract which allowed him to move to Marseille for free where he signed an 18-month deal.
While Saliba and Guendouzi, both on loan, have been lauded this season for their performances in France, Kolasinac continues to struggle.
Speaking to the media, Marseille manager, Jorge Sampaoli, said, “He’s at a new club with a new system.
“It’s different for [fellow new signing, Cedric] Bakambu, he knows the language and he interprets the ideas better.
“We play with different systems as well.
“The easiest way would be to put Kolašinac in as a starter, but it’s a risk. He doesn’t know our game yet, but he’s very interested in everything we want to do and he wants to play, he will likely play more soon with the busy schedule.
“But, for me, at the moment, there’s no point in having a player who isn’t at 100%.”
Before leaving Arsenal, Kolasinac had been given just 90 minutes of league action, although he also played another 180 in the League Cup.
In total, during his time at Arsenal, Kolasinac played 118 times, scoring five and assisting 15. It was a slightly better return than he managed at Schalke in 141 appearances where he also scored five but assisted 14.
Kolasinac has one assist at Marseille in his 78 minutes, which were spread over two games against Angers and FC Metz.
