A year has passed since the harrowing home invasion experienced by former Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi, his wife, and their two children in their Bétera chalet, Valencia.

The incident sent shockwaves through the football community, and details of the terrifying event have resurfaced as the investigation continues, with no-one yet apprehended.

On that fateful night, the family had just returned from a trip to Germany when they were ambushed by three hooded criminals. The intruders took advantage of blind spots in the home’s security system, bypassing motion detectors to gain entry. Their objective was clear: to steal as much as possible from the footballer’s family.

The loot, according to the Caso Abierto portal, included twelve high-end watches worth €800,000 from brands such as Rolex, Patek Philippe, and Audemars Piguet. The criminals also took eight luxury bags valued at nearly €50,000 from Chanel, Hermès, and Louis Vuitton, diamond rings, bracelets, necklaces valued at €280,000, and €11,000 in cash.

The total value of the stolen items and cash amounted to nearly €1.2 million.

The fear and panic experienced by Mustafi and his family during the invasion were undoubtedly the most distressing aspects of the ordeal. Recalling the events, Mustafi said, “I yelled at my wife to call the police and ran to my children’s room. I took them and went downstairs to find my wife, who had already activated the panic button.”

The robbers forced Mustafi and his wife upstairs, demanding to know where their valuables were stored. They even knew about the existence of a safe, which Mustafi’s wife, terrified, opened for them. The criminals eventually locked the family in a playroom, leaving them helpless as they escaped with their valuable loot.

A year later, the investigation is still ongoing, with little information available about the gang other than that they were “professional criminals” who had thoroughly studied Mustafi’s home.
