Forget Liverpool because ex West Ham man David Moyes didn’t rate now surely looks destined for Man United.

When Moyes gave the green light for West Ham to take a £25m loss in selling Sebastien Haller to Ajax last January it raised eyebrows.

The Hammers had reportedly jumped a queue that included the likes of Manchester United to sign Haller from Eintracht Frankfurt for £45m just 18 months earlier.

Manuel Pellegrini was the West Ham manager then. But when former Man United boss Moyes returned to east London for a second spell, Haller’s face simply did not fit.

Moyes preferred Michail Antonio up front ahead of Haller. The Hammers boss also publicly criticised Haller on several occasions saying he had to do more for the team and show more.

When Ajax came knocking Moyes let the Ivory Coast striker leave.

That decision has been questioned on an almost weekly basis as Haller has amassed an astonishing 56 goals and assists for the Dutch giants in just 49 games.

That includes breaking Champions League goalscoring records with 11 in his first seven games in the competition.

According to a new report from Blaze Trends, Haller’s record has alerted West Ham’s Premier League rivals Liverpool who believe that the 27-year-old hitman has a lot to offer at the very highest level.

Blaze Trends reckon Liverpool are in a three-way battle with Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan to sign the 27-year-old Ajax striker.

But forget Liverpool because the ex West Ham man who Moyes didn’t rate now surely looks destined for Man United instead if he does leave Ajax.

For the simple reason that Ajax boss Erik ten Hag is a big favourite to become the new Man United boss in the summer (The Daily Mail).

And history says where ten Hag goes, Haller follows. The Dutchman has signed Haller in both the senior management roles he has had so far at Utrecht and Ajax.

West Ham fans may forever wonder what might have been had Moyes persevered with Haller.

That ship has sailed, though, and West Ham are still reliant on Antonio as their only striker.

Haller could be playing against West Ham for the Red Devils next season, though, if ten Hag does take over at Old Trafford.

Man United boss in waiting ten Hag is the man who really lit the fire on Haller’s career as a striker.

He took him on loan to Utrecht where he scored 51 goals in 98 games. And now at Ajax he already has 46 goals in 18 months.

For context that is just a few off the most a West Ham player has managed in the 30 years of the Premier League!

Should ten Hag take over at Man United Haller looks destined be one of his first targets.

So forget Liverpool because the pair love working together and the Dutchman clearly knows how to get the best out of the man Moyes didn’t rate enough to play or keep at West Ham.
