Football agent Saif Rubie has made a big claim about the fee that West Ham paid to sign Lucas Paqueta in the summer transfer window.

Numerous media outlets claimed that the Hammers paid £51 million to bring the 25-year-old to the London Stadium.

The Brazilian was billed as West Ham’s record signing. We were more than happy with the alleged fee that the club paid for Paqueta.

The talented midfielder is a truly brilliant player – so good in fact that Chelsea star Thiago Silva wanted him at Stamford Bridge.

David Moyes has since hinted that West Ham didn’t quite pay that much money for Paqueta (Football.London).

And it seems as though Moyes was speaking the truth…

Football agent makes huge claim about West Ham ace Lucas Paqueta

It seems as though the Hammers didn’t actually pay as much for the Brazilian as was being reported…

Saif Rubie, who was involved in the transfer, spoke to talkSPORT yesterday and backed up Moyes’s comments about the Paqueta fee:

“£51million which is quoted as the actual money that they’ve paid for him. I am not going to disclose how much the fee is but it is less than the fee that has been reported. The point I am trying to make is that this deal was able to happen due to intermediaries like myself putting a deal together with West Ham, that they were happy to pay. Lyon were happy because no one else put hard cash down apart from West Ham.”

It is interesting to hear the comments from Rubie, and they prove that many transfer fees are probably reported incorrectly.

We’re just delighted that Moyes managed to bring Lucas Paqueta to West Ham during the summer transfer window, whatever the fee actually was.

If we did get him for less than £51 million though, that’s just a bonus!
