Fiorentina are bombing out the man who cost them the Euro final and he could face West Ham again next season with Brighton.

Declan Rice may have departed but West Ham fans are still buzzing about their first major trophy win for 43 years.

It has now been over a month since West Ham beat Fiorentina 2-1 on that famous night in Prague.

But Hammers supporters will be singing about being champions of Europe throughout next season.

It is a moment that will live forever in the memory of everyone connected with West Ham.

When Lucas Paqueta rolled his studs over the ball in central midfield and played a slide rule pass through to Jarrod Bowen in the last minute of the game, time stood still.

La Viola had just brought on muscle-bound Brazilian defender Igor Julio to help see out the game with extra-time looming.

And as Bowen sprang the offside trap, the world and its wife fully anticipated Igor would take one for the team and bring the Hammers forward down.

You know the rest, though, as Bowen raced through to win the Europa Conference League final for the Irons.

Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Italiano absolutely savaged Igor from the sidelines for failing to take Bowen out.

And he blasted the centre-back in his post-match press conference too.

Even Bowen himself admitted post match he was surprised Igor did not bring him down.

Now Fiorentina are bombing out the man who cost them the Euro final and he could face West Ham again next season with Brighton.

Hammers won’t have to wait long for reunion – perhaps now we can end the Brighton curse

As reported by TMW, Football Italia and Fabrizio Romano, Brighton are on the verge of bringing Igor to the Premier League in a deal reportedly worth around £13m plus add-ons.

The 25-year-old is reported to have already verbally agreed to personal terms with Roberto De Zerbi’s side and Brighton hope is to close out a deal.

West Ham won’t have to wait long for a reunion with Igor.

The Hammers travel to Brighton in the third game of the new season on August 26th.

Perhaps with the Brazilian at the back, West Ham will be given hope they can finally end the Brighton curse.

For Brighton fans, here’s what you will be getting. And for Hammers fans, any excuse to watch this again.
