The FA have confirmed three new charges for Arsenal and Manchester City, all related to failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during Wednesday’s game.

Arsenal have received one of the charges for surrounding a match official in the 56th minute, whilst Manchester City have received two charges for surrounding the referee in the 42nd and 64th minutes.

Both clubs have until Tuesday, February 21st to provide their responses.

In Arsenal’s case, the incident in question was when the referee incorrectly awarded a penalty for an apparent foul on Erling Haaland, who was subsequently ruled offside by VAR.

Before the decision was overturned, five Arsenal players protested the call to the referee.

In City’s case, the first charge was for all 11 players surrounding the referee to protest the award of Arsenal’s penalty in the 42nd minute. The penalty was confirmed by VAR.

The second charge was for six players surrounding the referee to protest Eddie Nketiah receiving a yellow card instead of a red card for a challenge on Ruben Dias. The yellow card was confirmed by VAR.

In summary, City have been charged for more than half of their team surrounding the referee to protest correct decisions on two occasions.

Arsenal have been charged for five players protesting an incorrect decision, which was overturned.

The likely punishment is a fine for each club.
