Erik ten Hag is a huge fan of Diogo Dalot, with the club set to offer the Portugal international a new contract.
Manchester United Football Club have undoubtedly improved their form over the last four games, with Erik ten Hag’s lads going on a four-game winning streak.
The attacking players have turned on the flair in big moments, though I would argue that the run has been based upon the foundation that defensive solidity has brung.
In those four victories, United have had a steady back line. Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane look solid, while both full-backs, Tyrell Malacia and Diogo Dalot, have been super impressive.
As a result, Dalot is now in line for a new contract. Apparently, United have planned to hold meetings with the 23-year-old’s agents over the coming months, with there now a sense of urgency to get a deal done as his current contract expires in the summer of 2023.
Dalot has spent years waiting for his opportunity. Honestly, full respect for him for taking that chance with both hands and not looking back. He has deservedly usurped Aaron Wan-Bissaka from the starting line-up, with the Portuguese now undoubtedly the first choice selection in that area of the field.
United now want to tie Dalot down to a new deal, while the player himself is seemingly feeling good about the Reds’ future prospects, by not even entertaining a move to FC Barcelona (who have shown an interest in the 23-year-old of late).
Hopefully, a deal is done sooner rather than later as you don’t really want this to drag on into January.
