Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Donny van de Beek will get his chance to impress at Man United.

Manchester United Football Club took the decision to hire Erik ten Hag over the summer, with the Dutch gaffer now understanding just how big of a task he has at hand.

The boss has done some good work, though made some of his own mistakes. It’s a learning curve for everyone, I guess.

Upon his appointment as manager, we all just assumed Donny van de Beek would return to his best and rediscover the form he displayed every single game at Ajax. To this point, that hasn’t happened. If anything, the midfielder is further away from the first team than ever before.

Well, in his press conference yesterday, Ten Hag confirmed that the ‘chances will come’ for the out-of-favour United star, who always is dealing with an injury issue.

When asked about Donny van de Beek directly, the boss responded:

“He has to be fit. Obviously, that is a disadvantage.” Ten Hag told club media.

“He is now here for two-and-a-half years. He had pre-season, that was quite okay, then his chances will come. When he came on against Brighton, he came on as a sub and did very well, but you have to be available and, when you are not available, you cannot get a place in the first XI.

“Now he has to make sure he gets fit and fights for his position.”

Like the boss says, Van de Beek has to get off the treatment table first, before he can even think about being selected for a first-team match in any capacity.

It’s a shame for the player more than anything. Van de Beek obviously has the talent and natural ability. He just isn’t comfortable in the current situation. At this point, I feel as if it’s too far gone for Van de Beek to rediscover his best form here in Manchester.

The Dutchman just looks like a shadow of his former self. It’s a really sad situation. No blame should be placed on the club nor player. Nobody knew it wasn’t going to work out – otherwise, the transfer would not have been sanctioned.
