According to a report from TalkSPORT, Ten Hag is a ‘big fan’ of the 25-year-old Premier League midfielder, despite the United manager’s focus on spending on players he has worked with or come up against in the Dutch league.
The Reds are reportedly on ‘high alert’ over the potential Tielemans signing, after Arsenal have failed to agree a deal to acquire the Belgian.
With just one year left on his current deal at Leicester City, the Foxes have a decision to make. They either cash in now for a lower fee, or risk losing Tielemans for nothing next summer. Neither is the most attractive proposition…
In terms of his fit at United, it would be a great addition for the overall outlook of the squad, though Tielemans wouldn’t be starting every week. That’s obviously something the player would have to be content with. That’s assuming De Jong is still signed by United this summer.
Either way, I’d absolutely chase this deal as the fee would be extremely reasonable due to Tielemans’ aforementioned contract situation.
It’s also worth noting that Tielemans’ Premier League experience means he could walk straight into the starting line-up from day one.
