During January, Arsenal were keen on bringing Luka Jovic to the Emirates, but an injury to Karim Benzema put an end to the hopes of any move during that window. You can read more on that below.

Now, however, with the summer approaching and Benzema banging in the goals, Jovic is back to wanting to leave the Spaniards.

Arsenal, along with Tottenham and West Ham, are said to be interested in bringing the 24-year-old to London, with the player not said to be in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans.

Jovic is valued at around £16m, under contract until 2025 and has scored one goal, with two assists, in 17 appearances this season.

Since the end of January, when the window closed, Jovic has played a total of 73 minutes and is currently sidelined with an ankle injury.

Marca report that Real Madrid have closed the door to an exit for Luka Jovic, amid injury concerns around Karim Benzema.

Though Benzema’s current setback doesn’t seem at all serious, it’s his second knock in quick succession, raising alarm bells.

Marca write that Arsenal and Real Madrid have a strong relationship, but the Gunners are yet to make an offer, and the hierarchy in Madrid think this is a bad time to let Jovic go.

AFP reporter Tom Allnutt claims Jovic isn’t particularly keen to leave Real Madrid in the first place, planning to stay and reassess his options at the end of the season.

Arsenal’s potential interest in Jovic was covered by a few outlets in the last couple of days.

James Benge had reported that Arsenal had been offered the chance to take Jovic on loan, and The Athletic confirmed that the Serbian striker was in the frame this month.

According to The Athletic, Arsenal were considering Jovic as a backup option to their primary centre-forward targets. They admire his link-up play and finishing ability, though they aren’t sure about his defensive work rate.

Arsenal’s first-choice signing up front was Dusan Vlahovic, but the Fiorentina man looks set to join Juventus. The Gunners have other targets, but many of them may not be attainable this month.

Jovic, on the other hand, appeared to be surplus to requirements at Real Madrid. That no longer seems to be the case.
