David Moyes provides Jarrod Bowen update ahead of West Ham vs Everton clash

David Moyes has provided an update on Jarrod Bowen as the West Ham ace continues his recovery from a suspected ankle injury.

The 25-year-old Hammers attacker has been out since March 7th when he went off injured during our clash with Liverpool at Anfield.

The original prognosis was actually quite positive. The official club website explained on March 8th how the injury sustained by Bowen was not a serious one and that he had not suffered any significant damage to his foot.

Claret and Hugh then suggested that the 25-year-old would not return to action until the second-leg against Sevilla on March 17th.

Bowen never recovered in time for the Sevilla clash, however, and wasn’t fit for our clash with Tottenham three days later either.

As time has gone on, we appear to be nowhere nearer actually finding out what is wrong with Bowen’s foot/ankle. And it seems as though Bowen is far from certain to start for West Ham vs Everton on Sunday either…

The Hammers play host to the Toffees at the London Stadium on Sunday.

It’s a huge game for West Ham and we have to win in order to keep our top six hopes alive.

Having Bowen back and available for selection would be a huge boost for everyone involved with the Hammers. It seems as though that’s far from a formality though.

Moyes spoke to reporters this afternoon and responded when asked to give an update on Bowen, as quoted by Football.London:

“A chance that both (Bowen and Coufal) could make it. Both did a bit of training over the international break so a chance both can be there. I’m not quite sure they are match ready yet. That’s my only concern. I expect him (Bowen) to be on the pitch in the coming weeks but I don’t know about this week. I expect him to be on it shortly. He’s a miss for us but we’ve had periods where we missed other key players and got through it. We’ve missed him for a couple of weeks now. Hopefully he’s not too far away.”

Having Bowen back for the run-in will be absolutely crucial for West Ham.

We absolutely shouldn’t rush him back to action though.

The 25-year-old will be vital to our hopes of achieving any kind of success this season. We need a fully fit and firing Jarrod Bowen between now and the end of the season.

However, rushing him back for the game against Everton could be counter-productive.
