David Moyes is allegedly pushing the West Ham United board hard to sign Jesse Lingard on a free transfer this summer.

That’s according to a report from 90 Min who claim that Moyes is pushing the Hammers hierarchy hard to conclude a deal for Lingard as soon as possible.

West Ham have allegedly already made an offer to the 29-year-old’s team of representatives about a return to East London.

Lingard enjoyed an exceptionally successful four-month loan spell with the Hammers in the 2020/21 season. He returned to Manchester United in the hope of playing regularly once again for his boyhood club.

Unfortunately for him, that didn’t happen though, and Jesse will now be a free agent from July 1st.

The 32-capped England international will be looking for one last big contract and it seems as though Moyes is desperate for West Ham to be the club that gives that to him…

David Moyes pushing West Ham board to make Jesse Lingard decision

90 Min claim that the Hammers boss is desperate to bring the 29-year-old attacking midfielder back to the London Stadium this summer.

Moyes is allegedly confident of getting a deal for Lingard done and the 29-year-old will earn in excess of £100k-a-week at the London Stadium.

The key here though will be getting a deal done quickly and efficiently. There is no value in letting this one rumble on until late on in the transfer window.

Everyone involved with West Ham understands just how much Lingard can add to Moyes’s team.

He bagged nine goals and four assists in just 16 Premier League games with us 18 months ago.

Lingard will be 30 in December and that is our only reservation about him returning to the London Stadium. Will he be as hungry to prove himself as he was during his loan spell with the Hammers?

Does the 29-year-old still harbour ambitions of forcing his way back into Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the World Cup in Qatar? Only time will tell.

If David Moyes brings Jesse Lingard back to West Ham on a free transfer, at least the risk will be minimal. And as mentioned earlier, if we get this one done quickly, then we’ll be more than happy to see Jesse back in the Claret and Blue.
