Confirmed MUFC XI vs Atletico Madrid (Champions League away, 2021/22) – Old Trafford Faithful

The MUFC XI for our game vs Atletico Madrid has now been named by Ralf Rangnick…

Manchester United Football Club return to Champions League action this evening, taking on Atletico Madrid in the fantastic Wanda Metropolitano stadium.

Make no mistake about it, this will be an incredibly-difficult game for the Old Trafford side, who will have to be at their absolute best if they want to take any sort of positive score back home.

Rangnick is slowly but surely implementing his style and ideas on this squad – and credit must also go to the players, who have been more than willing to adapt and adjust despite the fact that we’re in the middle of a season.

Anyway, the team news is now in, with Rangnick springing one big surprise…

Check out our confirmed MUFC XI vs Atletico Madrid in full here:

David de Gea starts in between the sticks, in what was likely to be Rangnick’s easiest decision when it comes to team selection.

At the right-back slot, Victor Lindelof is preferred over two natural full-backs in the form of Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Luke Shaw does play in the left-back position. Harry Maguire starts as per usual, with Raphael Varane making up the back line.

As expected, Fred does start in place of Scott McTominay, with the latter not even in the squad here. Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes both start, in a game where they’ll have to work incredibly hard on both sides of the ball.

Cristiano Ronaldo leads the line, boasting a fantastic record against Atleti in the past. To his right is Marcus Rashford, while Jadon Sancho will play off the left-hand side.

Let’s go Reds!
