Tottenham are allegedly trying to re-sign West Ham United transfer target Marcus Edwards from Sporting Club in January.
That’s according to a report from Portuguese outlet A Bola who claim that Tottenham boss Antonio Conte has taken the first steps needed to bring the 24-year-old attacker back to north London.
It appears as though the Sporting Lisbon star could be set for a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the January transfer window.

And if Spurs get him, it will very much be their gain and our loss…
Tottenham could beat West Ham to Marcus Edwards
Strangely, Spurs would only have to pay half of Edwards’ €60 million(£53 million) release clause, according to A Bola.
That’s because they inserted a clause into the sale of the winger that meant they would be entitled to 50% of any future sales.
So Tottenham are clearly in a stronger position than us to sign Edwards. That’s a big blow for the Hammers. I believe Edwards would be a fantastic addition to our ranks at the London Stadium.
The 24-year-old Enfield-born winger has been a real hit in Portugal. He has 12 goals and 12 assists to his name in 39 games for Sporting (Transfermarkt).
The former Spurs ace has pace in abundance and he plays with a direct style that would suit West Ham. He is also technically gifted.
Unfortunately for us, there is no way that we will be able to compete with Tottenham for Marcus Edwards.
The fact that we would have to pay £53 million for him, whilst Spurs have to cough up just £26.5 million means that it’s a one-way race in my opinion.
I think Edwards will be a huge hit in the Premier League now. He has matured as a player during his time in Portugal and is now an elite attacker.
Tottenham will be getting a great player for a very reasonable price whilst it will be back to the drawing board for Hammers boss David Moyes.
