Fabrizio Romano reports that Nottingham Forest and Palmeiras have now signed an agreement for the transfer of midfielder Danilo, who was previously linked with Arsenal.

The final fee will be around €20m, and Danilo is flying to England on Saturday for his medical and to sign a long-term contract with the Premier League club.

Brazilian outlet UOL reported earlier this week that Forest were close to the signing of Danilo from Palmeiras, with the player even reportedly telling those close to him that he was set for the move.

The Telegraph had initially broken the news that Forest were in talks with Palmeiras over a move, and they’d launched an £18m bid to sign the Brazilian.

Steve Cooper is keen to add a defensive midfielder to his squad.

The Telegraph added that Arsenal were among the teams who had investigated Danilo’s signing, but their interest had cooled since the summer.

will arsenal get a new captain

Goal Brasil had recently claimed that Palmeiras had received their first offer to sell Danilo, with Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, and AS Monaco also willing to sign the midfielder. But that Arsenal interest looks to have faded.

Arsenal’s focus is currently on signing Mykhaylo Mudryk, but they could reportedly discuss a move for a midfielder later in January.
