Manchester Evening News report that whilst Ruben Neves has been recurringly linked with Manchester United in recent years, Arsenal and Barcelona are the only two clubs to register concrete interest in the midfielder.

Wolves reportedly expect to lose the 25-year-old in the summer window, and they’re already considering replacements for him.

Sources suggest Wolves boss Bruno Lage was merely posturing when he suggested Neves was worth £100m, and Wolves would cash in for much less – with the player out of contract in 2024.

Neves’ representatives would welcome an approach from United, but United are working on a possible deal for Kalvin Phillips.

That could leave the door open for Arsenal, if they really are interested. It’s expected that the Gunners will make transfer moves for at least one striker and one midfielder in the summer window, if not more.

Rumours last summer suggested Arsenal were planning to make a move for Neves, but it never seemed to come to pass.

The player’s strong form since then has likely only increased whatever interest Arsenal then had in him, though his recent injury won’t have helped as much.

Neves is currently sidelined, and he hasn’t featured for Wolves in a little over a month. Before that, he’d made 31 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals and assisting two.
