Fabrizio Romano reports that Mohamed Elneny is expected to leave Arsenal this summer, with no talks to extend his contract as of now.

The midfielder’s current deal will expire in June, leaving him open to a free transfer elsewhere.

Football.London reported in February that Elneny was being targeted by several European clubs following his performances for Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations. He’s previously drawn approaches from Fenerbahce and Besiktas.

Football.London didn’t confirm whether the same two clubs were in for him this time around, but you’d expect they would be given his free-agent status.

In January, Elneny was drawing interest from Saudi Arabia for a potential free transfer in the summer, but it seems he’s now getting calls from Europe as well.

After making a run all the way to the final of the Africa Cup of Nations, it was no real surprise to see Elneny selected in CAF’s Team of the Tournament for the event.

Elneny started all of Egypt’s seven matches at AFCON, and he only came off early twice – in the 78th minute against Guinea-Bissau, and in the 86th minute against Cameroon.

But the Egypt international has still played more minutes at that one tournament than for Arsenal in all competitions this season, so it’s no real surprise his time with the club is coming to an end.
