Shkodran Mustafi, the German international and 2014 World Cup winner, is on the brink of joining Salernitana, a club currently facing the challenges of Serie A’s lower echelons. TuttoSalernitana.com reports that the club’s hesitation over signing Manolas nudged Director General Sabatini to consider alternative options, landing on the experienced defender as a crucial addition to their squad.

Mustafi, born in 1992 and boasting a wealth of international experience, is no stranger to Italian football, having previously played for Sampdoria. Now a free agent after a two-year spell with Levante in La Liga, where he managed 14 appearances and two goals, Mustafi is looking to revive his career in Italy. His tenure at Arsenal, spanning six seasons with 102 appearances, was a mixed bag of significant highs, including two FA Cups, and lows marked by defensive errors.

Despite a challenging period at Levante, which saw the club miss out on promotion, Mustafi has remained determined to find a new club. His recent statements to Sport highlighted his ongoing discussions with several clubs and his readiness to embrace new challenges.

Mustafi’s anticipated move to Salernitana is until June 2024, with an option for the club to extend.
