As Arsenal held an open training session for the first-team squad on Wednesday, a few youth players could be seen taking part alongside their senior counterparts.

Matt Smith and Catalin Cirjan were both named on the bench against FK Bodo/Glimt last week, and it looks like they’ll get opportunities again on Thursday, as they were two of the players involved in training.

Then Bradley Ibrahim and Khayon Edwards also joined the session.

Ibrahim is a midfielder who also has experience in defence, but his technical attributes probably lend him more to that midfield role in senior football.

Edwards is a striker, a prolific goalscorer who was expected to lead the line every week this season. Injuries held him back in the early part of the current campaign, but he recently returned to fitness and is now available for selection.

With the news that Gabriel Jesus was absent from training on Wednesday, it seems likely Mikel Arteta will have an extra squad spot available for the trip to Bodo.

Edwards makes the most sense, as Arsenal will be light on centre-forward options. It would be his first senior call-up if so.

Whether they get called up on Thursday or not, the quartet will certainly get something from training alongside the first team in the buildup to the game.
