Arsenal loanee Tyreece John-Jules joined League One Ipswich Town this season, and he’s played all over the place in their matches so far.
Primarily considered a centre-forward, John-Jules has also played a second-striker role, as well as featuring in attacking midfield and even on the left wing.
John-Jules’ minutes also haven’t always been consistent, with just over half of his appearances coming from the bench. Yet the 21-year-old seems to be enjoying himself.
“All of the players have made me feel welcome and it’s been really good,” John-Jules said. “I’m enjoying every minute and I’m improving day by day.
“The training is intense and it’s only going to make me a better player.
“As long as the team are doing well, then I’m happy. Wherever I get selected to play, I’ll play to the best of my ability. Wherever the manager puts me, I’ll try my best and give my all for the team.
“Every time I get on the pitch I’m enjoying it, regardless of if I’m playing down the middle or on the left. I’m just enjoying getting minutes for the Club and helping the team as much as possible.”
The striker only has a couple of goals so far, and he admits that’s not ideal, but he believes that will change as time goes on.
“I’d have liked to have scored more goals but it’s early in the season and I’m sure the goals will come,” John-Jules continued. “I’m not too worried about that.”
Even though he’s been in and out of the starting lineup, John-Jules is the only Ipswich player to feature in all 20 games this season, bringing him to 910 minutes in all competitions. He’s not exactly struggling to get on the pitch.
Whilst he might not be scoring as freely as he’d like, John-Jules is an important part of a squad that sit comfortably in the League One promotion places right now, five points clear of third place and just two off the top of the table.
There’s plenty to enjoy for the 21-year-old, and if the goals start to flow as well, he’d be right to call this loan a success.
