Erik ten Hag has explained why Antony will miss Man United’s game against West Ham United.

Manchester United Football Club need to continue their positive momentum this weekend, with a home game against West Ham United in the offing.

This will not be an easy fixture. The Red Devils have struggled to break down sides who sit back and look to defend this season. Expect more of the same this time around.

Ahead of the match, all eyes had been on Antony. The Brazilian was making headlines after his bit of trickery in the game against Sheriff on Thursday. However, he’s back in the headlines here for different reasons.

Sadly, the 22-year-old is unavailable for the game today. He’s suffered a knock a training.

The boss was asked about the extent of the issue in his pre-match interview, explaining that it is nothing too serious and he will be back in a couple of days.

It’s also worth mentioning that Ten Hag explained that Antony’s bit of skill is nothing to do with his absence today. Why the media decided to ask about that, I’ll never know, but there you are…

Check out what the gaffer had to say in his pre-match interview here:

“I think it’s not too bad, in a couple of days he will be back.” Ten Hag said live on Sky Sports, per @UtdDistrict.

Thankfully, the problem will not keep Antony out for too long. In all likelihood, there’s a good chance that the Brazil international will be back in time to play against Real Sociedad on Thursday.

No doubt Antony himself is counting his blessings, too, with the World Cup just around the corner.

Sadly, United will have to cope without the former Ajax man today, with the Reds now looking a little thin in the final third. Alejandro Garnacho is on the bench, with Anthony Elanga taking his place on the right-hand side for this one. It’ll be intriguing to see whether these guys can capitalise on their opportunity.
