Antony’s Man United squad number has just been unearthed by a journalist, as he gears up for a potential debut vs Arsenal on Sunday.
Manchester United and Erik ten Hag finally landed their man in Antony.
It took every day of the summer transfer window to get the deal done, though the Brazil international is now a Red Devil.
With the lack of depth out wide, there’s every chance we see Antony feature heavily pretty early on. After all, this is a player that Ten Hag trusts wholeheartedly. The relationship between the pair goes beyond a player and manager. These guys simply love working with each other.
Well, we’re yet to receive official communication from the club in regards to what shirt number Antony will wear for the upcoming campaign.
However, journalist Alvaro de Grado seems to have the inside scoop on that one, claiming Antony will be given the number 21 jersey.
Honestly, I was fully expecting Antony to wear the #11, though the #21 feels like a good fit, too.
Previously worn by the likes of Edinson Cavani, Daniel James and Ander Herrera, Antony will be looking to make that number an iconic one here at the Theatre of Dreams, similar to the famous #7.
No doubt Antony himself is just wanting to get stuck in and prove his worth. Obviously, it’ll take him some time to get fully up to speed – but he’s been preparing for this transfer since the window opened.
Antony himself did his bit, pushing on his side to force through the deal, even going as far as handing in a transfer request. We need more players like him, who are willing to work themselves into the ground for the manager.
