Anthony Martial could make his injury return vs Newcastle this weekend.

Manchester United Football Club take on Newcastle United this weekend, in a game that could prove crucial come the end of the season.

Credit where it’s due, Eddie Howe’s men are much-improved this season. They’ve spent plenty of money, but they have a team that operates as a cohesive unit. This will be a tough game for Erik ten Hag’s men.

Newcastle themselves are without Alexander Isak and Jonjo Shelvey for this one, whereas on the other hand, United could be about to receive a boost with the return of Anthony Martial.

Apparently, the key United star ‘can’ make his injury return this weekend vs Newcastle, though Ten Hag told the media that the ‘coming hours’ are crucial. United will have to wait and see how the problem develops ahead of the 2pm Sunday kick-off.

Check out what Ten Hag had to say on a potential Anthony Martial injury return vs Newcastle United here:

“Anthony Martial can be (back) but we have to wait how it develops in the coming hours.” Ten Hag told reporters, including Simon Peach.

Martial is starting to get a reputation of a bit of a sicknote – which is concerning going into a vital month of the season before the World Cup.

United have a serious chance to prove their capabilities over this period. They need their best players. Martial absolutely falls into that category.

The risk here is rushing Martial back too quickly again. He’s barely picked up any momentum, playing about 90 minutes of football all season. If he comes back, picks up another issue and is out for another few games, all United will do is make it worse.

Hopefully, Ten Hag approaches this situation cautiously. Leave him on the bench and if the result is comfortable, let him stay there. If the game is in doubt, give Martial 30 minutes max to make his mark.
