Man United’s Alvaro Fernandez has been pictured at Preston’s ground, as talks about a potential loan move grow.
Erik ten Hag’s 31-man pre-season tour squad was jam-packed with quality. So-much-so that some players were left at home, as they simply were not going to be given the opportunity to play.
The young full-back, who was named the club’s U23 Player of the Year, was always going to find it tough to get minutes after the arrival of Tyrell Malacia.
A loan move always felt like the right option for the emerging starlet. Now, we’ve been given the clearest indication that’s the plan. As you can see from the picture below, Fernandez was spotted at Preston’s stadium yesterday, talking to the club about potentially heading to Deepdale on a short-term deal.
The Manchester Evening News stress that although Fernandez watched Preston in a pre-season friendly yesterday, no deal has been reached with the North West outfit just yet. In fact, Preston face heavy competition to bring Fernandez in.

I do think it’s safe to say that the Preston project must be of interest to Fernandez. Or else he wouldn’t have taken the time to travel down to the club and see what they’re all about.
At this point, a Championship loan move seems absolutely ideal for Fernandez. He’d be offered the chance to play regularly in an extremely tough league. It’d allow the young Spaniard to grow and develop as a footballer as there’s nothing better for it than starting every single week.
Hopefully, the deal is fully agreed soon and Fernandez can go out and enjoy his football for the next nine months.
