Alejandro Garnacho contract talks with Man United are set to continue.
Over the last few weeks, Alejandro Garnacho’s emergence within the Manchester United first-team has been nothing short of flawless.
The Argentine looks right at home in a dressing room containing some of the best players in the world. He’s still only eighteen.
Garnacho, who only signed a deal just last July, is already back at the table as United (rightly) look to reward the young man.
According to the MEN, United contract talks with the emerging star are continuing, despite the fact Garnacho has a current deal that runs until 2025.
Apparently, the Reds are ‘comfortable’ with the current situation, given how long Garnacho has left to run on his current terms in the event that no agreement can be reached anytime soon.
United want to reward the Argentine’s impeccable form with another new deal, presumably on higher wages to reduce the chance that Garnacho could have his head turned by other potential suitors.
It is stated that his current deal includes a number of performance-based triggers, some of which, once activated, will lead to a permanent wage increase.
OTF’s verdict
This deal will likely get done – though there’s no imminent rush.
Time is on United’s side. Garnacho has only just broken into the first-team. He’ll no doubt be enjoying the exposure that United have given him right now, meaning the Reds are in a pretty good spot.
You cannot get away from the fact that it’s naturally harder to keep overseas talents at your club in the long-run. Compare it with Marcus Rashford for example, who is English. There’s a far greater chance he spends his whole career here, than Garnacho, who has deep connections over in Spain. That’s why United are bending over backwards to keep the young starlet happy.
