Fabrizio Romano reports that there are three clubs in the race for Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister: Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United.

All three have reportedly approached the player’s camp to discuss their projects, and Brighton are considering their summer price tag.

At this stage, it seems Arsenal aren’t in the race for the Brighton man, despite plenty of recent links between the two parties.

TyC Sports journalist Gaston Edul reported last month that Chelsea and Arsenal were the leading contenders for Mac Allister, having made similar claims back in December.

AS Argentina had also written that Atletico Madrid and Arsenal had shown interest in the player in December, following his positive performances at the World Cup.

Yet these links were never substantially replicated by the dedicated Arsenal journalists in England, and Romano now seems to be casting doubt on the Gunners’ involvement in the transfer battle.

Mac Allister joined Brighton in 2019, making his debut for the Argentina national team not long afterwards.

The 24-year-old has made 24 starts for Brighton in the Premier League this season, only really dropping out of the team in the immediate aftermath of the World Cup.

Mac Allister also started all six games that Argentina won at the tournament, only missing the one match they lost against Saudi Arabia. He scored against Poland in the group stage and provided an assist against France in the final.
