VfB Stuttgart left wingback Borna Sosa has popped up on Tottenham’s radar, according to journalist Christian Falk.

A player likened to a youthful David Beckham, Sosa has impressed with his ability to knock various types of pinpoint crosses into the box. He is still young and has a wicked left foot, but Chelsea are definitely favoured to land his signature in the summer.

Still valued at only €20 million, Sosa has garnered ample interest from Thomas Tuchel, who has only the aging Marcos Alonso currently at his disposal. Ben Chilwell is out for the rest of the season but will return for the start of next campaign, while Alonso could depart Stamford Bridge permanently.

While Chelsea are the frontrunners, Tottenham and Arsenal have both reportedly thrown their hats in the ring.

Does Sosa make sense for Tottenham?

Yes he does, though Sergio Reguilion will still be Tottenham’s first choice if they somehow convince Sosa to make his way to north London. It’s clear the future is bleak for Ryan Sessegnon, who hasn’t shown the promise expected after his arrival from Fulham three years ago.

It’s likely Sessegnon will leave north London in the summer, making room for a player of Sosa’s precise prototype.

Though Tottenham’s first priority is to source an accomplished right wingback, the club won’t shy away from loosely pursuing the talented young Croatian.

He has a goal and four helpers in 18 Bundesliga appearances this season and is locked into a long-term contract that runs until the summer of 2025. However, a long-term contract isn’t exactly an impenetrable impediment.

The likelihood suggests this rumour swirls like a Category-5 hurricane before dissipating to a mere drizzle, then fizzling out completely. However, it’s one to keep your eyes on as the wild and whacky summer transfer months approach.
