The FA Cup final between Manchester United and Manchester City will kick off at 3pm, according to The Athletic

This will be the first Manchester derby final in the history of the FA Cup, which is set to happen on June 3.

The Wembley game was expected to start between 4:45 and 5:30, but the timing was moved forward on the advice of London’s Metropolitan Police.

The Met police classed the derby match as high risk due to the historic rivalry between the two clubs, and after talks with the Football Association, the kickoff time was set at 3:00pm.

It will be the first time the fixture will begin at 3pm since 2011.

Big motivation for United to win the final

Manchester City are one of the favourites to win the Champions League this season following their emphatic 4-1 aggregate win over Bayern Munich in the quarter-final.

With Arsenal showing signs of title nerves, the Citizens are likely to lift the Premier League trophy as well.

Add the FA Cup and Pep Guardiola’s side will end up winning the treble of trophies, a feat achieved only once in English football history by Manchester United in 1998-99.

So on June 3, Erik ten Hag’s men will be motivated not only by the desire to win more silverware but also the chance to deny City the treble by beating them in the final.

United defeated Brighton & Hove Albion in a thrilling penalty shootout victory in the semi-final, while Man City eased past Sheffield United 3-0 at the weekend to qualify for the final.
