Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold is being courted by Real Madrid ahead of a potential move next summer, according to reports. Alexander-Arnold recently signed a new contract at Anfield until 2025 but is on Los Blancos’ shortlist of right-back targets.

DefensaCentral report that Real want the 22-year-old to provide Dani Carvajal with competition next season.

Chelsea’s Reece James and OGC Nice’s Youcef Atal join Alexander-Arnold on Carlo Ancelotti’s watchlist.

Such a switch seems implausible, but Jurgen Klopp may want more than cash if he’s to lose, arguably, Europe’s best right-back.

Express Sport look at four Real Madrid players Liverpool could demand in return for Alexander-Arnold in 2022.

Since selling Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona in 2018, Liverpool are yet to sign an attacking-minded creative midfielder.

Klopp has switched the Reds’ main attacking focus to the wings, meaning his three midfielders don’t necessarily have to provide goals and assists.

Isco has been linked with a Real exit for some time and could pursue a new challenge in England as part of a deal for Alexander-Arnold.

He would offer Liverpool a Plan B if attacks from wide aren’t working, but like Vazquez, he is potentially leaving his prime, aged 29.

Marco Asensio

After Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota, Klopp’s attacking options are Roberto Firmino, Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi.

Liverpool could be in trouble if injuries hit their front three, and Marco Asensio could pose as an enticing option.

Still only 25, the Spaniard can play on either wing and has plenty of experience playing at the highest level.

Luka Jovic

Many Liverpool fans believe the club are missing an out-and-out striker, and Luka Jovic could be that striker.

The 23-year-old hasn’t replicated his impressive goalscoring exploits at Eintracht Frankfurt at Real, overshadowed by Karim Benzema’s brilliance.

Liverpool could offer him an exciting way out and a chance to breathe new life in his still-promising career.

But Real would have to add cash on top of Jovic, and the other three names in this list, if they want any chance of signing Alexander-Arnold.
